Dr. iur Marcel Fassbender has more than 15 years of experience as head of the legal department of a globally operating group implementing major infrastructure projects. He has also been active as an attorney for over 20 years.

In this context, Dr. Fassbender was in charge of up to 40 lawyers responsible for the commercial and legal management of the respective project contracts in the various national offices of the group. In doing so, he not only had overall worldwide responsibility for the legal basis of the contracts to be concluded and concluded with a volume often exceeding €1 billion, but also far-reaching commercial responsibility for the financial assessment of the forecasts of essential elements of the project work. At the same time, Dr. iur. Fassbender was managing director of various subsidiaries of the group, e.g. in India, the Scandinavian countries, Israel but also in Switzerland and Germany.

Dr. Fassbender was also trained and certified as a business coach and mediator and took on additional tasks within the Group in cooperation with the HR departments. At the same time, he supported his wife, attorney Nicole-Denise Fassbender, in their own law firm, which they currently run jointly in Meilen (ZH) and Constance.
Dr. iur. Marcel Fassbender is admitted to practice before all German District Courts, Regional Courts and Higher Regional Courts and is registered in Switzerland on the list of attorneys pursuant to Art. 28 BGFA and may therefore represent parties before judicial authorities in Switzerland on a permanent basis. He is a member of the Freiburg Bar Association. Dr. Marcel Fassbender has proven experience as a consultant in complex, mainly international contractual and business agreements. He not only drafts such contracts, but also proposes contractual strategies to his clients and conducts lengthy negotiations of contracts in English and German.

However, his work for various nationally and internationally operating clients does not begin with the revision of contracts and the preparation of draft contracts, but already in the bidding phase. His experience in the field of public tenders, his expert assessment of risks and opportunities in given contracts are particularly appreciated by his clients. In the past, he has led commercial contract management for various clients and developed new and modern purchasing contracts for major public projects.

At the same time, Dr. Fassbender offers particular expertise in setting up legal departments, identifying young and experienced talent in the field of law and commercial management (claim management). He has already successfully built up or restructured various legal departments. In doing so, Dr. Fassbender has shown great intuition not only in identifying and recruiting highly qualified and experienced legal advisors, but also in paying particular attention to the commercial and communication skills of such employees and their integration into the overall commercial context of the client.
Dr. Fassbender is also in demand as an interim manager and has in the past provided temporary support to SMEs in various functions, up to and including management. He is also available to managing directors and other decision-makers as a (business) coach and experienced businessman, offering his experience in difficult business and private matters.
As a mediator, he has led various business mediations, both alone and together with Nicole-Denise Fassbender, attorney at law. In this way, he has been able to resolve, in some cases, long-standing differences of opinion between companies that were contractually bound and thus in dispute, without having to resort to the courts. Some of these mediations resulted in the resumption of business relations between the companies previously in dispute. His long-standing network with internationally and nationally active lawyers allows him to take on mandates far beyond Switzerland and Germany.
